About Me

My path to becoming a Counsellor evolved over many years and started at a stage of my life when I faced personal challenges that I felt unable to resolve simply by talking with friends and family.  Coming from an immigrant background, I arrived in Australia with my family many years ago, at an early age.  A significant change which imposed unwelcome challenges to my mental health and wellbeing and that of my family.

There came a time in my adult life when I needed to make sense of my past, whilst also navigating a myriad of personal issues in the present.  I recognised my need for professional counselling, and fortunately I found the right counsellor for me.  My experience of being a client piqued my interest in the counselling profession. I completed a Diploma of Counselling, a Bachelor of Social Science (Social Welfare), and later a Master of Counselling.

My Approach

I hold the person-centred view that the client is the expert in their own life.  My role as a Counsellor is to be a facilitator of the process that provides the ideal conditions, along with strategies, skills and tools to support you to meet your needs and goals.  I take the time needed, and offer a safe space for you to talk about issues, and be fully heard and understood, before we talk about interventions.  I take an integrated approach to counselling modalities, which enables me to tailor interventions to meet your specific needs.  I utilise evidence-based modalities such as ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy); Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focussed Therapy.

I am mindful that people lead busy lives and are investing time and money into counselling.  Therefore, my aim is to provide impactful counselling sessions that enable you to achieve what you need, in the minimum number of sessions possible.
